How to…Act Like The Swiss

Swiss bank UBS AG is updating its style guide (not its brand style guide, its employee style guide) and it has some great advice for everyone:

  • Men should…get a haircut every month and avoid unruly beards and earrings
  • Everyone should…avoid garlic or onion breath
  • Everyone should…wear wristwatches to signal “trustworthiness and a serious concern for punctuality
  • Glasses should always be kept clean [to] give you optimal vision, and on the other hand dirty glasses create an appearance of negligence. This is important for me!
  • Russians should…hold your drink at business engagements and to “never reject an invitation to the sauna”
  • When in the United States you should…”never criticize the President”
  • When in Latin America…”turning up before an appointment might even be considered rude”
