Toronto Third Tuesdays Meet Up

Do you work in public relations?  Are you tired of seeing the advertising world trying to take over the social media sector?  Do you feel as if you don’t have a voice in the industry?  Do you live in Toronto?

third_tuesdaythumbnail.jpgIf the answer to all these questions is yes then help is at hand.  The Third Tuesdays Toronto meet up group is here to serve all of your PR and social media needs.  The tireless Joe Thornley has organized a rag tag bunch of us Toronto PR bloggers (Dave Jones, Terry Fallis, Chris Clarke and me – hope I got that right Terry…) and we’re delighted to be celebrating our first event.

Who better to start the discussion on blogging and social media than the man who wrote the book on blogging and social media?  Shel Israel will be our first speaker and all PR types with an interest in social media should mozy on over to our Meet Up page and register for September 26th at 6pm in the Abbott on the Hill pub just north of Summerhill TTC station.

What’s that?  You’re in Ottawa?  Well don’t fret as Joe has the nation’s capital covered and the Canuck Flack and Brendan Hodgson will be your hosts the night before on September 25th with the same star guest.

A while back I wrote about the battle ground for social media and nothing’s changed.  We’re aware that we may not change the world with our little meet up (14 people last time I checked) but if enough PR people around the world (sorry Paull) get organized and the industry can speak with one voice, enlightened organizations will hear us.

For a slightly more eloquent, less irrational take on things, Joe has the scoop on his blog.

Do you represent a laptop manufacturer or retailer?  Do you want your logo here?  If you do, please email me!

One Response to Toronto Third Tuesdays Meet Up

  1. […] When? September 26, 2006 @ 6 p.m. Where? The Abbott, 1276 Yonge Street, Toronto Who? You. If you’re reading this blog, you should attend. It’s that simple. Why? Because our first guest is Shel Israel, co-author of Naked Conversations, and a heavy-hitter in the world of PR. For more information, lead organizer Joe Thornley writes about it on his blog. Ed Lee joins in the fun and writes about it on his blog as well. […]
