Search is a big focus for me this year at iStudio – as you can see from the below “wordle” graphic.
So it was pretty timely to see this Common Craft video on Mark Evans’s blog.
Web Search Strategies in Plain English from leelefever on Vimeo.
This search stuff is getting pretty important: from my experience reporting on client sites, between 40 and 60 per cent of a mature site’s traffic comes from search. Whatsmore, 21 per cent of Internet users have a search engine as their home page – not counting the number of people with search boxes right in their browser.
If you’re used to thinking about “share of voice” as a metric to measure your off-line communications efforts, “share of search” is something you’ll want to consider in the future.

Hey Ed,
Do you include sites such as socialmention in your definition of search, or just the more established ones?
Cheers,
John.
