Check out this UK tech PR copywriter, “The Friendly Ghost”, for yet another list of PR/marketing blogs.
The Flak-o-sphere is definitely mimicking real life – no-one can agree what to measure, what tools to use and how to use analyse the results.
A stunning indictment, if one is needed, of the need for standardised metrics both on a national or international basis for the PR industry.
Otherwise we’ll just be running around applying ridiculous multiples like 5.8 to all our impressions numbers to “wow” the client.

Totally agree with you on the need for some kind of standardised system. This is probably where companies who do this kind of thing based around tried-and-tested citation analysis come in. And yet there must be a way to standardise on home-brewed stats.
Mine would have been closer to the Power150 list had I been able to replicate the bloglines results, but I was unable to, and I’m following this up. As it stands, I’m considering doing this for copywriting – my main discipline- from now on, quite simply because, as you say, it’s *yet another index*!
maybe you and Todd need to sit down and *hug it out*…
for what it’s worth, we’re trying to work out all this stuff as well. how can we define which bloggers are influential and who should we be reaching out to?
it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out, if indeed you decide to continue refining the process.
